The London Souls’ 2015 album Here Come the Girls puts a unique spin on the traditional classic rock and roll formula, updating it in bits and pieces along the way to form a cohesive experience that sounds like an echo of the past reverberating in a modern room. Taking elements of 60’s jangly psychedelic rock from bands like Cream and The Beatles, to some of the harder more contemporary garage rock of bands like The Black Keys and The White Stripes, Here Come the Girls is a listen that reminds you that rock and roll doesn’t need to be overly engineered or complex to be enjoyable– it just needs to be fun. And whether it rips like “All Tied Down” or explores whimsical folky charm like “Hercules”, a solid album of fun rock and roll is what The London Souls delivered.
