Swedish heavy metal bangs so damn hard and In Flames 1999 album Colony is no exception. Featuring the piercing vocal growls of lead singer Anders Fridén, the dual attack of guitarists Björn Gelotte and Jesper Strömblad, and the steady rhythm section attack of bassist Peter Iwers and drummer Daniel Svensson, Colony was one of my first forays into melodic death metal during my high school years. I don’t remember who exactly first turned me on to them, but know for certain it was one of my friends who was a drummer in high school (Dan, Chris, or Devon please help me out here) and has stuck with me forever since. Whenever I’m looking for a quick pick me up to get the juices flowing Colony always does the trick.

Standout Songs: “Embody The Invisible”, “Colony”, “Coerced Coexistence”
