Ninja Sex Party’s Cool Patrol is a rollicking ride through 80’s synth pop and over the top glam metal. Their brand of juvenile comedy is fun as hell, with lead singer and narrator Dan Avidan channeling his inner Ryan Reynolds through his voice inflection and general love for obscene jokes to drive home his point. Whether it’s the tender “Heart Boner (Part II of the Boner Trilogy)” which details young love through rock hard double entendres, the absurdity of “First Date” which progressively gets more violent as the evening progresses, or the perfectly 80’s time travel themes found in “Danny Don’t You Know” which showcases Avidan speaking to a younger version of himself and assuring him that it’s all going to work out in the end, Cool Patrol has both snark and sentimentality in every nook and cranny.
