When you think of 1980’s New Wave music the song “I Ran (So Far Away)” is pretty much required to pop into your head. A Flock of Seagulls, the British rocker’s debut album, was a defining moment for New Wave as a whole and is chock full of all the things that make the genre fun as hell– slick delay driven guitars, massive snare drums loaded with reverb, addictive sonic flourishes, and cotton candy hooks every single place you look. If you’re looking for a fun romp through the 80’s that is committed to making its point and not overstaying its welcome, A Flock of Seagulls is an excellent place to start.
