Dua Lipa’s brand of peanut butter smooth disco pop is simply a delight to listen to. It’s incredibly well produced, her voice is magnificent, and the songwriting hooks are crafted with care by the bevy of songwriters who were brought in to help bring the album to life. Future Nostalgia was actually inspired in large part due to the music that Dua Lipa grew up enjoying during her childhood— the dance pop and electronica influences here are everywhere, and it’s effective in creating a modern take on those vintage sounds.
Future Nostalgia isn’t going to inspire some grand intellectual crusade that leads to a massive self-reflection that changes the course of your life, but damn does it make you wanna put on some well cushioned shoes hit the dance floor until 2am. A total bullseye in that respect. The bass tones and synth sounds on this album are just flat out incredible.
Standout Songs: “Don’t Start Now”, “Levitating”, “Love Again”
