Narrow Head ‘Satisfaction’ (2016)

I’ve been on a bit of a shoegaze and all of its offshoots kick lately and I stumbled upon Narrow Head during my exploration of that genre. The band draws plenty of inspiration from Siamese Dream-era Smashing Pumpkins with those fuzzy, layered guitars and a warm wall of sound that walks that fine line between euphoria and testosterone-induced “break some shit” energy. There’s a heavy weight and subtle softness to their guitar riffs that calls back on Corgan & Co’s output from the 90’s that gives the whole thing a kind of shimmery hypnotic nostalgic pulse for me. I really dig it. It’s the kind of band that I would like to be in, one who writes songs that they want to listen to themselves without overindexing on its commercial appeal.

Standout Songs: “Necrosis”, “Ashtray”, “Stay”, “It’s Whatever To Me”
