Useless ID ‘Redemption’ (2003)

Useless ID caught my eye last week when I was reading up on some lore about The Ataris in preparation to see them live alongside MxPx in a few months (I’m pumped!). I was kind of going down the rabbit hole of albums that lead singer Kris Roe produced over the years and read a story about how he discovered an Israeli punk band in the late 90’s, brought them onto Kung Fu Records, and helped get them on the map outside of their home country. Love stories like that.

At any rate, Redemption is a really fun mid-aughts pop punk album. They remind me a lot of what it would sound like if No Use For A Name combined with Sugarcult and decided to play some super fun punk rock music that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is a low-key sleeper that I’ll be coming back to. It’s kind of stuck with me in a way I didn’t initially expect.

Standout Songs: “State of Fear”, “Kiss Me Kill Me”, “State of Fear”
