I’ve been getting into sleazy 80’s inspired glam rock a bunch lately (inspired in no small part by the return of the HBO show Peacemaker, of which Season 1 is low-key one of my favorite shows released in the past five years) and Vains of Janna is a perfect band to fit that vibe. They’re Swedish, they clearly love Motley Crue, and their lead singer has this incredible grit to his voice that sounds like he’s been smoking darts for 30 straight years. They were actually the first band to get signed to Bam Margera’s record label Filthy Note in the mid-2000’s if that gives you any indication of what kind of vibe these guys are getting throwing down. It’s the perfect music to listen to while you’re running to get you amped, or when you’re ready to shotgun a 12-pack of Natty Light with your boys on a Friday night. Come for the cracking guitar lines of “Enemy In Me” but stay for their epic cover of Tom Petty’s “Refugee”.
Standout Songs: “Enemy In Me”, “Better Off Alone”, “Everybody Loves You When You’re Dead”, “Refugee”
