There was a record label in my hometown of Cupertino, CA called Springman Records that for the longest time was one my favorite record labels ever. There’s a few reasons for that– I was in middle school when I was first getting into punk rock, and Springman Records was a punk label so the synergy there was undeniable. They also put out a handful of compilation albums over the years called “Punk Rock Strike” which featured numerous bands in the underground scene that were on the verge of getting big. In fact, one of my favorite bands of all-time Thrice actually released their first album Identity Crisis on Springman Records (an incredible fun fact), which over the years has certainly cemented the nostalgia even further.
At any rate, Big D and the Kids Table was one of those bands featured on Punk Rock Strike over the years. They’re best described as Sum 41 playing high-energy and fast-paced ska rock. I loved “Myself” as a prepubescent teen and listening to their full-length Good Luck certainly brought me back. These guys are still going strong as of this year which is certainly an incredible accomplishment considering where they started.
