There’s nothing like some good old fashioned country music from the 60’s on a weekend morning with the kids, and the velvet baritone of Jim Reeves was the soundtrack of today for me and the kids as we went to Sky Zone together. Reeves’ brand of country is a throwback to a simpler time that sounds familiar today, but in 1963 Reeves was actually somewhat of a pioneer in that he was one of the first artists to develop and write songs that would come to be known as “The Nashville Sound” later on in the decade. Reeves unfortunately died in a tragic plane accident at the age of 40 years old (it’s crazy to think how many great musicians went out in plane accidents during that era) but his music lives on today as a reminder of family values and sentimentality.
Standout Songs: “Don’t Let Me Cross Over”, “Little Ole Dime”, “Bottle Take Effect”
