Good Charlotte ‘The Young and The Hopeless’ (2002)

I was never a huge Good Charlotte fan (they always struck me as sort of synthetic) but there’s no denying the massive cultural impact the band had on the early-2000’s MTV era of punk rock music. The Madden brothers were all over the celebrity circuit, ended up marrying Nicole Richie and Cameron Diaz, and cut their own path with commercial pop punk that made them massive stars. The look was edgy and the songs were hooky as all hell. Honestly the music video for “The Anthem” still lives rent free in my head, with the car culture and emptied out swimming pool in somewhere’s backyard. Sure it was shot on a Hollywood lot somewhere, but damn did it ever look cool when I was in 8th grade.

Standout Songs: “The Anthem”, “Girls & Boys”, “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous”
