Wheatus’ self-titled debut was an album I never listened to in full until about two weeks ago. And while it’s a solid offering front to back, the album was really a delivery system for their single “Teenage Dirtbag” which still to this day remains an iconic late 90’s/early aughts alternative rock song. This the kind of song that hits different when you’re fourteen, awkward, and quietly convinced no one gets you, but still has that magic element of being able to remain relevant even when you’re knee deep in your late 30’s and looking back on that unusual time period of your life.
Standout Songs: “Teenage Dirtbag”, “A Little Respect”, “Punk Ass Bitch”
