Finneas ‘For Crying Out Loud’ (2024)

I spent last night at the Ryman Auditorium watching Finneas play an incredible live show. For those of you not in the know, the Ryman Auditorium is in Nashville and is one of the most iconic live music venues in the United States, standing basically alongside Madison Square Garden as one of the most desired and celebrated live music venues for any touring musician to play at. The Ryman (aka The Mother Church) is an old church that opened as the Union Gospel Tabernacle in 1892, founded by Nashville businessman Thomas Ryman, who owned saloons and riverboats. After attending a revival by Samuel Porter Jones in 1885, Ryman was converted and pledged to build the tabernacle for large-scale indoor revivals. It famously played host to the Grand Ole Opry for 30 years from 1943 to 1973 before eventually transitioning into the aforementioned venue that is celebrated across Nashville as a premier music destination for artists across the globe.

Finneas is Billie Eilish’s brother and basically the creative mastermind behind Billie Eilish’s sound. He’s been instrumental in shaping her genre-defying music with his haunting production and intimate songwriting. As her sole collaborator and producer, he helped craft the atmospheric, bass-heavy beats and whispery vocals that propelled her to superstardom and defined Billie’s signature style but also set a new standard for bedroom pop production, proving that chart-topping hits can be born from a sibling duo’s DIY home studio.

His live show was incredible. Think of Coldplay meets The Strokes in all the best ways. It was an experience I’ll never forget and one I was happy to share with my wife on her first day out here in the Music City.

Standout Songs: “Starfucker”, “What’s It Gonna Take To Break Your Heart?”, “Little Window”, “For Cryin’ Out Loud”, “Sweet Cherries”, “Family Feud”
