Open Up and Say…Ahh! is the glittering embodiment of 1980s glam rock excess, a loud, brash, and unapologetically fun album that catapulted the band to superstardom. Released in 1988, it’s a neon-lit time capsule of hair-metal anthems that continue to define that era when people think of glam rock today. The album drips with over-the-top charisma, from Bret Michaels’ swaggering vocals to C.C. DeVille’s electrifying guitar solos, capturing a world of teased hair, tight leather, and arena-sized singalongs. When I was first getting into rock and roll during middle school I remember being obsessed with the songs like “Nothin’ But A Good Time”, “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” (duh), and one of my favorite sleeper Poison songs “Fallen Angel” which honestly is still probably my favorite song from the band despite not having the star power of their other hits. Poison is one of those quintessential acts of a decade ruled by excess and hedonism, but most importantly, represent that unshakable belief which says rock ’n’ roll should be larger than life.
Standout Songs: “Fallen Angel”, “Nothin’ But A Good Time”, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, “Your Mama Don’t Dance”
