Dolores O’Riordan’s vocal style was iconic in a way that was often compared to Sinead O’Connor, both for their illustrious high notes, Irish accents, and ability to make every single song they sang on feel intimate and powerful. There is a bleak poetic note to the fact that both O’Connor and O’Riordan both dealt with mental health struggles over the course of their careers which led to their separate untimely and early deaths over the past five years.

O’Riordan’s ability to bring you into her world and expose her deepest and darkest thoughts while still remaining accessible was a indelible trait of her sound, and one that led to some pretty massive hits over the years like incomparable “Zombie” which can be found on No Need to Argue. This album is dark and harrowing but at the same time beautiful and hopeful, a musical achievement that is difficult to achieve in one breath. And although the career of The Cranberries was unfortunately cut short, they left a piece of work that has a real knack for peering into your soul every time you turn it on.

Standout Songs: “Zombie”, “Ode To My Family”, “The Icicle Melts”, “Ridiculous Thoughts”
