Conway the Machine ‘God Don’t Make Mistakes’ (2022)

As part of a Buffalo-based hip-hop duo alongside his paternal half-brother Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine has built up a loyal and dedicated fanbase of hardcore hip hop heads since first entering the scene during the mid-2010’s. His life story is reminiscent of 50 Cent’s in many ways– Conway was shot in the head and neck in his younger days which led to his face being partially paralyzed which gives him his signature slur (a story detailed on “Guilty”), and Conway also benefited from an early partnership in his career with Eminem when he and his brother brokered a partnership with Slim Shady Records in 2017. On God Don’t Make Mistakes Conway the Machine puts on tape all of the things that have made him such a modern-day revelation in underground hip hop circles– introspective lyrics that pull no punches combined with haunting production that swims in the grime and dirt that is the streets of his hometown of Buffalo. It’s an album perfectly suited if you’re in the mood to understand the story of a man and how he came to find himself in his current situation (“Guilty”), as well as hear the dreams of a man who knows he is capable of even more (“So Much More”).

Standout Songs: “Tear Gas”, “Drumwork”, “Guilty”, “So Much More”, “Chanel Pearls”
