Yesterday we covered my love for musician/comedian Tom McGovern and we’re back again today for another round with his band Wolves of Glendale self-titled debut album. Unlike his short-form album Two Hour Tuesdays, Wolves of Glendale is a full-fledged effort clocking in at 45-minutes long and covering a wide array of sonic ground– smooth yacht rock, garage rock, metal, and dancehall. You name the genre and the boys at Wolves of Glendale have it covered. The whole album is a helluva fun ride filled with twists and turns that constantly catch you off-guard. Whether it’s the story of dating a ghost, getting diarrhea at a planetarium, an ode to shrimp, or the tale of a divorced 68 year old exploring Las Vegas with his newfound freedom (the line about strip clubs literally had me in tears the first time I heard it), Wolves of Glendale is the perfect fit if you’re looking for some laughs.
I’ll be catching them live tonight at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco and I simply can’t wait.
Standout Songs: “Vapin’ In Vegas”, “The Gym”, “Olivia”, “Planetarium Dump”
