Along with having perhaps some of the most impressive uses of typographical symbols in both their band name and album title (the dual solidus in the Past // Present // Future is a chef’s kiss, frankly) Meet Me @ The Altar turns in a refreshing rendition of 2023 pop punk throughout their debut album. All the requisite pieces are here, propelled forward by lead vocalist Edith Victoria’s soaring melodic hooks and energetic vocal performance, and delivering a great modern pop punk sound in the process. It’s easy to compare the band to Paramore (which is a great thing) and although I never was a teenage girl I can only imagine this would have been my soundtrack if I ever was.
Standout Songs: “Say It (To My Face)”, “Kool”, “T.M.I.”, “A Few Tomorrows”
