ZZ Top ‘Eliminator’ (1983)

ZZ Top’s brand of Texas blues generated a ton of smash hits during their heyday during the mid to late 70’s, and in 1983’s Eliminator they introduced synthesizers and drum machines to create a more pop-oriented and commercially viable version of the boogie rock that made them famous. If you’re looking for the album that best represents ZZ Top’s most popular songs Eliminator is it– featuring “Gimme All Your Lovin’”, “Sharp Dressed Man”, and “Legs”, the album is a party rock anthem suited as much for dive bars in Austin as it is for Madison Square Garden in New York City.

A final note on ZZ Top– the band is obviously well known for its pair of massive beards from lead singer/guitarist Billy Gibbons and bassist Dusty Hill, an iconic part of their repertoire and a look that certainly helped make them famous. What’s especially funny about this is that their drummer’s name is Frank Beard, and yet the dude didn’t really rock anything more than a mustache during their years of popularity.

Standout Songs: “Gimme All Your Lovin’”, “Sharp Dressed Man”, “Legs”, “I Got The Six”
