Patsy Cline was one of country music’s most influential stars during the formative years of the genre in the early 1960’s, and left a legacy that reverberates to this day. It’s hard to fully articulate just how much Cline means to the country community– her rich and powerful voice, effortlessly punctuated with a steadily controlled vibrato, laid the groundwork for what country music would sound like in the ensuing decades, and her contributions helped pave the way for female artists to become frontwomen in country music at a time when that wasn’t the norm. Put another way, she’s a country legend and one of the most impactful female recording artists in the history of the genre.

Showcase is Cline’s best known studio album, and showcases her immense vocal talent in spades. One listen to “Crazy” or “Walkin’ After Midnight” and it’s easy to understand why Cline has remained a formative figure sixty years after her untimely death in a plane accident in 1963. Her storytelling capabilities and vocal range are incredibly easy to listen to, possessing a purity that shines in nearly every note she utters. An all-time classic that will never go out of style.

Standout Songs: “Foolin’ Round”, “Crazy”, “Walkin’ After Midnight”
