Chiodos’ 2005 All’s Well That Ends Well is a deep cut for anyone who was a hardcore screamo fan in the mid aughts (guilty as charged!). This was one of those bands that was so damn weird and unique but it all just seemed to work. Lead vocalist Craig Owens pushed his vocal range to the brink on nearly every song, incorporating quotes from subject matter ranging from Shakespeare to Snapple facts (yes, really) in his lyrics. And then you had the brilliant classical piano playing of Bradley Bell which helped flesh out Chiodos’ signature sound and added a dimension that simply didn’t exist in the genre at the time (and really never did afterwards). It was dramatic, it was wild, it was heavy as hell at time (guitarists Jason Hale and Pat McManaman have some truly special parts on this record, especially during “The Words ‘Best Friend’ Become Redefined”). It’s almost as if the whole band decided to just dump all their ideas into each song, loosely stitch them together, and let it rip.
Put simply, All’s Well That Ends Well was (and is) completely one of a kind. And the album art absolutely kicks ass too.
Standout Songs: “One Day Women Will All Become Monsters”, “No Hardcore Dancing In The Living Room”, “Baby, You Wouldn’t Last A Minute On The Creek”, “The Words ‘Best Friend’ Become Redefined”
