If you’re looking for hooks, 49th & Main’s Must Be Nice is a convenient one-stop shop. Blending indie, disco, house, and 80’s soft rock has been done once over but there’s something especially catchy about the Irish duo’s approach. It’s been a week since I first went through this album and I don’t think there has been a single day since that the hook in “Up To Something” hasn’t popped into my head at least once a day to say hello.
Considering it’s just a pair of high school friends (producer Ben O’Sullivan and vocalist/instrumentalist Paddy King), the depth of production the duo gets on these songs is incredible. Must Be Nice is a short jaunt (7 songs) and left me craving more. Excited to see what these guys do on their next full length.
Standout Songs: “Up To Something”, “Streetlights”, “Dillinger”
